Fond Farewell

This is a short little piece about thoughts of what used to be. MP3 (1.21M)
RMF (3.8K)

Un-named 856

This is a piece I kind of fell into one night in 1997. Like most all my original music right now, it was done using only MIDI Modules and a keyboard. The guitar and string sounds are from a slightly modified patch from a Roland JD-990, with an additional sound in there from a Korg Wavestation SR. The drum sounds are from a Roland RD-500 Keyboard. The MIDI sequence was recorded and arranged with Cakewalk Pro Audio.

Perhaps the tune needs some arranging and other parts. You can hear a small sample of it, or get the whole thing.
(The snare drum sound lost just a little presence when encoded with MP3 compression.)

Un-named 856 (Mono Sample), MP3 (238K)
Un-named 856 (Complete), MP3 (3.72M)

I also have a lot of bits and pieces of musical things that I want to get to finishing up sometime, like this one...

Other People's Music

A friend of mine has been writing music for many, many years. He plays guitar, bass guitar, and I don't know what else. His name is John Puerta, and here are some samples of his work.
All pieces copyright John Puerta, 1997.

She Will (544K)
Daydream (569K)
Blue Cafe (552K)
Lou Ann (411K)
Peasant's Dance (412K)
Tony Tonight (416K)
The Window, Part II (375K)

Historical Note:
Recording piano music in the 1890's was not so dependable because of limited sensitivity of equipment. Band music came across much better.

MP3 Sound File Compression
Using MPEG 1 Level 3 (MP3) encoding, a 40Mbyte WAV file, sampled at 44.1kHz, can be reduced to about 4Mbytes, with an almost undectable loss in sample quality.

To learn all about MP3, visit MP3.com. If you need an MP3 player, Microsoft's newer version of Media Player will play MP3 files. Otherwise, go try out Winamp and click the Download link (Winamp plays more than just MP3 format). Or, go to MP3.com's software page and pick the player you like.

Unless noted otherwise, all files here are in MP3 format.

Some files here are in Beatnik's Rich Music Format. It synthesizes the sounds on your computer.
