Lady,
You Don't Look Eighty
Joy
seems on edge on the most important day of her life - her 16th birthday!
The boys are playing and she continuously (and somewhat grumpily) cautions
them that they are planning too rough. BlueBell Flower and the Grapevine
know what is bothering Joy. Joy believes the boys have forgotten
her birthday. After Joy storms off, the boys let Sparky in on a secret
- they have planned a surprise birthday party! After inquiring how
many candles they'll need, the boys teasingly allow Sparky to believe Joy
is 80 years old!
Benita
Bizarre's day is not starting out too well either. Reflecting on
her looks, she finds a gray "hair." So, what else is there to do
but head to Rock City's Uptown Beauty Shoppe for beauty supplies.
The boys and Sparky are also in Rock City. As they are leaving the
Uptown Bakery, Sparky asks to see Joy's birthday cake. Benita and
Funky Rat overhear the boys and Sparky as they discuss possible problems
with 80 candles and the fact the boys are pushing 70 themselves.
Astonished at the news, Benita believes the Bugaloos must have found the
Foundation of Youth in Tranquility Forest. Desperately, Benita heads
toward the Forest.
After
the boys arrive home, they find Joy is still grumpy. Sparky tries
to lend her a hand with housework, but Joy is still ruffled and doesn't
understand the game she thinks they're playing. Just as Joy is about
to enter her lily-pad pad, Benita shows up asking where the Foundation
of Youth is. Bewildered, Joy listens as Benita explains she knows
Joy is 80 years old. The boys realize what happened and confess that
they were joking. Learning this, Sparky accidentally lets on about
the birthday cake. Benita, though, is not convinced and begins to
search for the Fountain. She notices a bucket of water, which Joy
explains is just water she got from the lily pond. Still not convinced,
Benita joyfully drinks from the bucket thinking the lily pond is the Foundation
of Youth to the astonishment of the Bugaloos.
Several
hours later, back at the Jukebox Penthouse and after drinking numerous
pails of water, Benita realizes the "youth potion" isn't working.
Believing the Bugaloos have the key, Benita and Funky Rat plan to crash
the birthday party. As they aproach the Bugaloos' clearing, they
spot Sparky picking flowers and, of course, zap him. Benita puts
the word out that if the Bugaloos don't come up with the youth tonic, "blinky
bottom" gets it.
-
The
Bugaloos are busily decorating for the party when the alarm comes in that
Benita has Sparky and her demands. Knowing Benita still won't believe
them, I.Q. tells the others they will just have to whip up a magic potion
for her. The Bugaloos arrive at Benita's to find her waiting anxiously
outside. Hoping to have Sparky back home by the time Benita realizes
the new potion doesn't work, the Bugaloos are dismayed to learn Benita
plans to keep Sparky until she finds out if the stuff works.
The
Bugaloos feel hopeless until Harmony comes up with a plan. The Bugaloos
disguise themselves to look old to show Benita what has happened to them
without the magic youth potion, hoping to convince her the potion is the
real stuff.
-
Frustrated
at no results, Benita orders Funky to blast Sparky. But, before he
can do so, Flash alerts them that company is coming. Upon seeing
the "old" Bugaloos, Benita begins to believe she really has magic youth
potion and tells them to take Sparky and get lost. Sparky is unsure
of what he is seeing and steps on Harmony's beard, which foils their disguises.
As expected, Benita yells at her gang to blast the Bugaloos but not before
the Bugaloos take to "the apple pie," and Benita and her gang blast themselves.
Joy's
wish comes true and she has a terrific birthday to the tune of Older Woman.
