What Living With the Bugaloos is Like!!!

What is it like living with three brotherly Bugaloos?  Only one fortunate girl can answer that question and she's the fourth member of that frolicking, singing foursome known as the Bugaloos - Caroline "Joy" Ellis!  Read why Caroline can say: "Having three 'buggy brothers' around is fun!"

Caroline quickly jumped out of bed.  This was a very special morning!  The boys had promised her that they would take her shopping so that she could "dress up" her bedroom a little.  She gave her room a lingering and careful study, shook her soft, tousled hair and thought, "It's really a pretty room, but it needs a little more brightness.  Maybe the boys will have some suggestions as to what I can do to make it sparkle!"

She tossed her clothes on and proceeded down the hall and banged on the boys' door.  "Get up, get up!  You promised we'd go shopping today!"  No answer from any of them.  Suddenly a chorus of voices from downstairs filled the halls.  "Ellie, we were wondering when you were going to get up.  We've been ready for hours!"

Grinning Faces
Caroline rushes to the stairs and looks down.  There at the foot of the stairs stands her three "brothers," all ready to take her to town, and beaming broad grins at her.  Caroline notes how pleased they are with themselves and how lucky she is for having three such considerate guys taking care of her.

As she runs down the steps, Little John tells her that he's glad she's wearing the pink dress because that's one of his favorites and she looks especially nice in it.  Caroline rumples his hair and chuckles.  "Little John, I don't think there is anyone sweeter or more even-tempered than you."  They give each other a friendly smile and walk out to the car where Big John and Wayne are waiting.

The first few minutes of the car ride to town is quiet, a rare event when the four Bugaloos are together!  During those quiet minutes, Caroline glances at each guy and thinks, "If I had to describe each one with just one word, which word would I use?"

Wayne Is Aware
"Wayne is an aware person.  He is constantly seeking to know what is going on around him and within himself.  He finds great pleasure in getting to know and being interested in the things that are going on.  Even the way he drives this car shows how aware he is.  His eyes just seem to reach out, or look for interesting objects.  I guess his daily trips to UCLA also proves that he's got a fantastically inquiring mind.  I hope he never loses his great sense of curiosity...I don't think he ever will.  I must make it a point of going with him one of these days to the UCLA campus.  He's so excited about it!"

Big John Is A Clown
She turns around to look at Big John in the back seat.  A small chuckle escapes her lips as she remembers the impromptu musical "act" they put together the other night.  They were trying to teach her how to play the drums.  Little John was on the piano, Wayne was doing a funny tap dance, and Big John played the guitar.  It was so funny!  But, as usual, it was Big John who gave everyone the fits of giggles!  Big John, the clown, is a very lovable clown who always seemed to find such extreme joy in making others happy through laughter.  And his other big love, singing, is second nature to him too.  He would be happy forever if he was allowed to spend half of his time listening to the beauty of people's laughter, and the other half singing and writing songs.  Music and laughter, two very important ingredients in his life.  Just then, Big John gives her a wink and makes one of his funny faces at her.  Caroline giggles, and Big John happily smiles back at her.

Little John Is Sweet
Little John's the one she would go to first if something was bothering her because his advice was always so tender and understanding.  To describe him as sweet was natural, but all the other good traits that all girls wish their older brother had is a part of Little John too.  He's kind, easy to talk to, and an extremely good listener.  She remembered the first "heart-to-heart" talk she had with Little John.  From the very beginning he had this unique amount of tenderness that made Caroline feel like she was talking to one of her real brothers.  A wisp of hair blows onto Caroline's face, and before she can brush it away, Little John reaches up from behind her and gently flicks the hair off her face.  She turns to thank him, but one look at his face tells her that a spoken "thank you" is unnecessary.
Silence Is Broken
Then one of their favorite Beatle songs comes on the radio, and Caroline's thoughts are interrupted.  Big John naturally starts to sing along and soon all four of them join in the singing.  Minutes later, they arrive at a shop that has the largest variety of posters that any of them have ever seen!  The boys tell Caroline that the fastest way to brighten up her room is to hang gorgeous posters on the wall.  And soon, they are all loaded down with the posters of their choice.  Caroline screams, "We have enough posters to brighten up every room in the mansion!"  And the boys answer, "We probably will!"

One More Surprise
One the way home, the boys had one more surprise for Caroline.  Wayne stopped the car near one of the many flower shops near their home.  They tell her to wait in the car, and they come back with huge bunches of colorful flowers!  They explain that these particular flowers have magical powers of brightening up any home!  Caroline laughs and thanks them for their thoughtfulness.  When everyone is settled in the car again, Caroline thinks, "Flowers and posters might help make our home prettier and brighter, but the real beauty of our home is my 'fellow-bugs'...Wayne, Big John, and Little John!"
