The Bugaloos Share Secrets With You!

Now that the Bugaloos have spent half a year in the U.S., recorded their first album, toured the country and made themselves at home, they want all their new American friends to get to know them a little better.  So, they came right to TEEN PIN-UPS to tell you some surprising secrets about themselves...

Wayne "Harmony" Laryea, the youngest Bugaloo, is especially happy to be here in the U.S.  He loves just about everything here - with one exception.  He secretly doesn't understand the American money system.  You see, the British currency comes in different sizes and colors - a one pound note is green, a five pound note is white and blue, and a 10 shilling note is white and brown - and according to Wayne it's much easier to handle than ours, which is all green and one size.  With our money you really have to look before you pay!  One thing Wayne really does like about this country, though, are all the tall buildings.  When things just aren't going right, he loves to go up to the top of one of them to be alone and think.  Wayne's a very serious young man and does a lot of thinking.  His thoughts are very creative at times, and he writes quite a bit of poetry.  At one time, in fact, he thought about a career as a writer - and he still may try it someday.  Wayne admits that he secretly hates to get up in the morning.  For him early rising is as bad as an ice cold bath.  But he loves dancing, photography, animals, rain, playing the piano, Barbara Streisand, small cars, milk, and competitive sports.  Though he doesn't like to brag about it, he's very proud of the fact that he placed second in a national school track contest in Britain last year.  What about his future?  Well, it's no secret that Wayne's going to be successful at what he tries.  Right now, he's just enjoying himself as a Bugaloo.

John "I.Q." McIndoe, known as Big John, admits that what he likes best about this country is the weather and all the pretty girls.  Big John has a weakness for pretty faces, and it's no secret among his Bugaloo buddies.  He's really hooked if a girl's a good cook, too.  Big John has a very colorful background.  He worked with his parents in the circus as a clown, doing stunt work, and later went through a long list of odd jobs such as delivering milk, operating an elevator, and being a road manager for other singers and groups.  He's sure that he wants to stay in show business and secretly hopes to go into comedy in the future.  Though being a Bugaloo takes a lot of time, Big John manages a few minutes for himself every now and then.  In his free time, he enjoys swimming, racing cars, collecting stamps and antique cameras, and playing tennis.  Big John also loves listening to music and watching TV late at night.  He admits that he secretly admires Paul McCartney and Suzannah York, and one of his biggest thrills would be to meet them someday.

Caroline "Joy" Ellis, who's secretly called "Mom" by the Bugaloo boys, is always happy.  Like Big John, she just loves the weather in the U.S.  She thinks the California sunshine is just miraculous.  Because she's the only girl member of The Bugaloos, the boys tend to look after Caroline as though she were their sister.  And she, in turn, does very secret sisterly things for them...like giving her "okay" on the girls they date, brewing them "the best cup of tea in the world," and just bringing her feminine charms to the group.  Caroline loves acting and singing, and especially loves to dance.  Someday she hopes to do theater.  But she also secretly hopes that somewhere in her future waits a husband and children.  She really loves kids and wants to have lots of her own.  Though she's always on the go, Caroline absolutely hates to be rushed.  She takes her time doing things - and they naturally get done a whole lot better that way.

John "Courage" Philpott, known by his fellow Bugaloos as Little John, is thoughtful and witty.  According to Wayne, he has a sort of weird sense of humor, but he's also very thoughtful and does possess a lot of "courage."  John admits that he first displayed his grit when he asked his boss in a factory in Kent for a few days off to go to London and try out for the Bugaloos.  Winning his role was tougher than he'd expected, but it paid off in the end.  The things Little John loves best about this country are all the beaches and beautiful scenery, but he hates the smog.  He secretly wishes that he could invent a way to get rid of all the pollution in the world - and maybe he just might.  Another of Little John's secret wishes for his future is to own his own home in the beautiful English countryside.  He says he's working to make that happen right now.  In his free time, John enjoys fishing, swimming, and playing darts and football.  He has a secret passion for jelly beans, a secret admiration for Mama Cass Elliot, and a secret love for all the fans who smile and say "Hi!"  Little John always smiles and says "Hi!" back.
